Deep V-neck
Deep V-neck plunge styles are the perfect choice for brides that want to look and feel sexy. The deep plunge also elongates the torso giving the illusion of a longer body – it can create a really flattering look. Each designer we stock has created a variation on this look providing our brides with maximum choice.
Colour
What started as a small shift from ivory coloured gowns to Moscato and warm cream’s has continued to evolve, with a myriad of beautifully coloured dresses now available. Coloured wedding dresses are definitely big news this season and no longer reserved for the ‘alternative’ bride. These dresses are a contemporary statement for fashionable women. Shades of pastel pink look set to dominate 2020 as a variety of blush and soft-hued gowns have been making an appearance over the past few seasons. Plus the addition of colourful applique flowers and subtle bead shades adding texture of fabric and depth of colour.
Fashion Forward sleeves
70’s styling for the modern bride. Long puff sleeves and floaty over-sized sleeves are a real feature this year. They offer something that fashion forward brides will fall in love with. Look no further than our new label Freda Bennet. We fell in love with this collection for its British design and for styling that nod’s toward 1970’s Chloe-esque silhouette’s and 1960 ‘Mary Quant’ embroideries and appliques. Modern simplicity with retro styling = Perfection.
Oversized Bows
What more can we say, this look has exploded in 2020 and we had to very cautiously edit the best representation of this trend. We were thrilled to select the beautiful 2282 by Mikaella. The key here is to keep the rest of the look simple, clean and modern. Style 2282 has the most beautiful ‘A-symmetrical’ Mikado bow at the back, highlighting the sharp low square back detail. The fitted waist of this gown keeps the dress flattering and the high neckline adds elegance. This look is proving very popular and is a firm favourite at May & Grace.
Art Deco and Rosa Clará Couture 2020 collection
Art Deco inspired several of these exclusive designs showcasing beautifully crafted linear lace, adding stunning sparkle to make bridal fashion even more magical.
Minimalism
A stand-out trend is minimalism, a long-time Rosa Clará favourite that informs lots of the new designs in the 2020 collection. Featuring halter necklines, open backs, macramé waist detailing and romantic poet sleeves for boho brides.
2020 cements the shift that has been emerging from full lace gowns to plain/clean styles. A trend that was further catapulted into our consciousness by the choices that Meghan Markle made on her wedding day. A brand that does this look so elegantly and a firm favourite at May & Grace is Canadian brand Mikaella. Having unveiled a host of variations on the restrained on-trend look that’s one of their trademarks, the new 2020 collection does not disappoint. 2020 Brides are opting more for these cleaner designs at present rather than fuller lace styles. This season we have cherry picked bridal gowns designed for a bride with a young, modern spirit who is looking to add a little fun to her wedding day style. These gowns are a perfect balance between classic silhouettes and the latest bridal trends.
