Gabby + Will's Stunning Summer Wedding

Gabby + Will tied the knot on a beautiful Summer's day last June at a contemporary modern barn in Newbury.

Gabby - "We chose 'The Post' in Newbury. It is a new purpose-built modern barn that is light, natural and airy. It is surrounded by perfectly manicured gardens and set in the middle of a beautiful golf course. There is also a lovely spa hotel connected to the venue that is within walking distance. We had a list of over twelve different venues, not including 'The Post.' They had just finished building the venue when their Instagram popped up on my phone. I persuaded my Fiancé to add another venue viewing to the list and the minute we walked into the building we both knew it was the one!"

Gabby chose the most stunning hand-painted tulle gown by House of Savin. This delicate A-line gown has shoe string straps an open back and covered buttons. Green, ivory and metallic painted tones give this dress a modern ethereal look, adding an element of romance.

Gabby - "I visited at least six different bridal shops before May & Grace, the choices are overwhelming when your are starting to look at dresses on their websites and then they did not have them in store, which can be frustrating. Going into May & Grace was refreshing, all the dresses I had shortlisted were there. There was also a wide range of different styles. With the shop being small and intimate having it to yourself it made it an individual experience where both myself and my Mum felt free to look around and express our emotions in privacy. This was a welcome change from some other stores."

How did you decide upon the dress that you chose?

"The dress I chose was a wildcard on my shortlist. As soon as I saw myself in the dress I loved it, as did my Mum. I wanted to think about it for a few weeks before deciding. During those weeks I probably spent at least an hour a day looking at the photos of the dress and couldn't get it out of my head."

What was the favourite part of your dress shopping experience?

"My favourite part was returning to May & Grace to put the dress back on after a few weeks, knowing that this was going to be my dress."

What shoes and accessories did you choose and why?

"I chose some baby blue strappy heels as my something blue and I wanted something dainty to go with the dress. I chose a really small pearl necklace and bracelet to compliment the slightly pearlescent tones in the dress and not take too much attention away from the dress. I also chose some beautiful hand sculpted earrings with pearls as I had fallen in love with them online and knew they would go perfectly with the dress."

Did you have a specific colour palette or theme for your wedding day?

"After spending two years in Italy together we wanted to bring Italy to us with our theme. We stuck to pastel colours, mainly green and white with beige pampas grasses. We had olive trees dotted around the room and natural muslin napkins and welcome signs."

How did you feel in your dress on your special day?

"I felt so beautiful in my dress on the day, I had so many compliments on how different it was. It was also so comfortable with the light skirt and the split down the front meant it was so easy to walk and dance in."

What was your favourite moment of the day?

"My favourite moment was when we were doing our first dance. Towards the end of the dance we had a lift, as I backed up, gathering my skirt to run and jump into Will's arms, all our friends and family gathered around cheering us on."

What was your first dance song?

“Our first dance was to 'Just you and I,' by Tom Walker. We had dance lessons from Emma at First Dance Studios, who helped us choreograph and learn a dance with dips and a lift, to avoid just standing and swaying for three minutes. I would highly recommend having dance lessons as it made us (a couple who doesn't like to be centre of attention) feel comfortable dancing in front of all our friends and family."
