Jess + Jos's Enchanting New Forest Wedding

Jos grew up in the New Forest and on a visit to see his family we stopped in Beaulieu for a walk and slice of cake. With the estuary and backdrop of the Abbey, it is the most beautiful place with the added enchantment of donkeys and ponies roaming freely. We also wanted the convenience of having the ceremony, meal, reception, and bedrooms all in one place; so The Montagu Arms Hotel was the perfect choice..

Jess chose an embellished long sleeve A-line gown 'Alexandra' by House of Savin with the matching 'Alex' veil.

How did you decide upon the dress that you chose?

"The one 'Alexandra' was a bit of wildcard, I fell in love with the unique leaf embellishment and puff sleeves. I am also a complete sucker for matching items so had to have the Alex veil. It is the most beautiful garment I will likely ever own and felt so comfortable and elegant".

Jess said - "I loved my experience at May & Grace, Emilie was just the right balance in terms of making the session feel special but also providing assistance and constructive advice while being encouraging. I went to 4 shops and found the experience overall a bit overwhelming. With help from May & Grace I luckily narrowed it down quite quickly with support from my sister and mum".

What was the favourite part of your dress shopping experience?

"In some ways seeing how other people react to dresses is interesting and what they think your style is, I suppose you learn things about yourself. There is also no getting away from the fact that it’s a shared happy and emotional moment with the people close to you".

What shoes and accessories did you choose and why?

"I paired the dress with rose gold Florence block heel court shoes and drop pearl earrings, these were recommended by Emilie. The dress and veil combined are the star, keeping the accessories simple was the best advice. Originally I had liked the idea of Juliet cap veil but it over complicated the look."

Did you have a specific colour palette or theme for your wedding day?

"Our colour scheme was coral, navy blue and gold. We took advice from the hotels recommended decorations stylist and florist, its already a lovely characterful venue but we were blown away by the care and attention to make sure the style was personal to us and the flowers were completely out of this world, our guests took home the centre pieces."

How did you feel in your dress on your special day?

"Very special; elegant and confident and in love"

What was your favourite moment of the day?

"The most memorable was walking into the ceremony room and locking eyes on each other, other highlights include the confetti tunnel and the speeches".

Did you have a first dance?

"Sweet Pea, My Sweet Pea by Paul Weller"
